Waiting for the fawn

I’ve spent this afternoon and evening sitting in various #ubuntu-* channels anticipating the words that fawn lovers everywhere have been waiting for.

Tony Yarusso had the brainwave to create #ubuntu-release-party to pipe all the hyperactive, red-cordial afflicted, excited geeks into, and it has worked like a charm with 750+ users — all trying to talk at once ;). The other channels have remained open for business despite the excitement.

#ubuntu — the main Ubuntu IRC channel has broken it’s own records set for the edgy release, with 1500+ users currently perched in it.

The Ubuntu community is an utter madhouse at the moment, this is the most anticipated release so far.

We are still waiting for all the pieces of the release-day puzzle to fall into place (IT IS NOT OUT YET 13:20UTC). This should of course, happen soon.

I’m so excited!

odd, I see 7.04 on releases.ubuntu.com, so, it may have just made it up there (dated today, april 19th). I’m sitting on the torrent right now, and hopefully in about 15-20 minutes, I can check the MD5 to make sure this is it.

    either way, an exciting day.

  2. Man I woke up at 6 today to check for it and the site was down http://earobinson.wordpress.com/2007/04/19/ubuntucom-was-down-today/, but you can find a non beta link here http://releases.ubuntu.com/7.04/
